Section 77 of the Bankruptcy Act, referred to in subsec. (e), was classified to section 205 of former Title 11, Bankruptcy. The Bankruptcy Act (act July 1, 1898, ch. 541, 30 Stat. 544) was repealed effective Oct. 1, 1979, by Puspan. L. 95–598, §§ 401(a), 402(a), Nov. 6, 1978, 92 Stat. 2682, section 101 of which enacted revised Title 11. For current provisions relating to railroad reorganization, see subchapter IV (§ 1161 et seq.) of chapter 11 of Title 11.
The effective date of the Staggers Rail Act of 1980, referred to in subsec. (f)(1), probably means Oct. 1, 1980, the effective date of section 601(a) of Puspan. L. 96–448, which enacted subsec. (f) of this section. See section 710 of Puspan. L. 96–448, set out as an Effective Date of 1980 Amendment note under section 1170 of Title 11.
Subchapter V of this chapter, referred to in subsec. (f)(4)(A), was repealed by Puspan. L. 97–35, title XI, § 1144(a)(1), Aug. 13, 1981, 95 Stat. 669.

1996—Subsec. (d)(4). Puspan. L. 104–317, which directed amendment of par. (4) by striking out “a judge of the United States district court with respect to such proceedings and such powers shall include those of”, was executed by striking out text which contained the words “judge of a United States” rather than “judge of the United States” to reflect the probable intent of Congress.
