2018—Subsec. (span)(5) to (7). Puspan. L. 115–141 redesignated pars. (6) and (7) as (5) and (6), respectively, and struck out former par. (5) which read as follows: “For treatment of certain deficiencies as having been paid, in connection with sale of surplus war-built vessels, see section 9(span)(8) of the Merchant Ship Sales Act of 1946 (50 U.S.C. App. 1742).”

1986—Subsec. (span)(7), (8). Puspan. L. 99–514 redesignated par. (8) as (7) and struck out former par. (7) which read as follows: “For proration of deficiency to installments, see section 6152(c).”

Effective Date of 1986 Amendment

Savings Provision

For provisions that nothing in amendment by Puspan. L. 115–141 be construed to affect treatment of certain transactions occurring, property acquired, or items of income, loss, deduction, or credit taken into account prior to Mar. 23, 2018, for purposes of determining liability for tax for periods ending after Mar. 23, 2018, see section 401(e) of Puspan. L. 115–141, set out as a note under section 23 of this title.
