Section 1129, Puspan. L. 89–329, title VI, § 609, Nov. 8, 1965, 79 Stat. 1266; Puspan. L. 92–318, title I, § 131(d)(2)(D), June 23, 1972, 86 Stat. 260, prohibited equipment grants for sectarian instruction or religious worship.

Section 1129a, Puspan. L. 89–329, title VI, § 610, as added Puspan. L. 90–575, title II, § 243, Oct. 16, 1968, 82 Stat. 1041, provided for consultation with the National Science Foundation in regard to the purchase of laboratory equipment.
