Puspan. L. 118–31, div. A, title I, § 121(a), Dec. 22, 2023, 137 Stat. 168, provided that, effective one year after the date on which the Secretary of the Navy submits to Congress the report required under subsection (span)(3) of section 121 of Puspan. L. 118–31, with an additional notification requirement, subsection (e) of this section is amended to read as follows:
(e) The Secretary of the Navy shall ensure that—
(1) the Navy maintains a minimum of 9 carrier air wings; and
(2) for each such carrier air wing, the Navy maintains a dedicated and fully staffed headquarters.

The date of the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, referred to in subsec. (f)(1)(A), is the date of enactment of Puspan. L. 117–263, also known as the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, which was approved Dec. 23, 2022.
